The "Date Added" field isn't imported in iTunes, why ?
The "Date Added" field is Read Only in iTunes and cannot be set accordingly. This is a iTunes limitation.
I can't play tracks I've bought on the itunes Store, why ?
Make sure you have authorized your computer. You can do so in iTunes under the menu "Store" -> "Authorize Computer..."
Why does it take more time to copy files to iTunes when copying from an iPhone or iPod touch ?
Because these devices do not have a disk mode, iTunes cannot access them with a finder path. Therefore they need to be copied first on the hard drive and then imported in iTunes. Disk space is not affected with this procedure.
TuneAid is reporting a duplicate that is in fact not one. What can be done ?
In extremely rare cases TuneAid can report a duplicate which is not one. TuneAid uses an extremely finely tuned anti-dupe function. In most cases it does a very good job, but can in certain cases fail. All you need to do is to turn off the check for duplicate function in TuneAid preferences.
My iPod is recognized in iTunes but tracks do not load in TuneAid. What can I do ?
Your iPods database my be corrupted. You can still try to retrieve its music by using the hard recovery mode. To do so go in TuneAid's preferences and check the Force Hard Recovery Mode and click on save. This will put TuneAid in special mode that recovers track without reading the potentially corrupted database.
Why is it so important to have the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" feature on in iTunes when copying files ?
If this preference isn't check on and you import tracks in iTunes, the actual files stay on the device. Meaning iTunes has added the track to its database but hasn't copied it to its library location. Therefore the track is showing up in iTunes, however if you unplug the device and play the track in iTunes you will notice that iTunes will complain saying it cannot find the file to be played.
Why can I choose to import certain metadata and not other in iTunes ?
Certain metadata is stored in the iPod's database but not in the audio file. All this data can be freely chosen to be imported. All the other data that is stored on the audio file is imported in iTunes by default. You can, however edit this data in iTunes after it has been imported.
My smart playlists are showing up as regular playlists after the import in iTunes! Why is that ?
iPod's do not store the actual smart playlists rules. iTunes as it updates the iPod just creates regular playlists with the content of its smart playlists. You can, however, fairly easily recreate the smart playlists if you have chosen to import all metadata in iTunes. By default TuneAid imports them all, such as ratings and play counts.
My iPod or iPhone is plugged in but TuneAid is not showing the right content !
TuneAid has an auto-detect function. If more then one iPod or iPhone is connected to your computer for sake of simplicity TuneAid doesn't offer you the choice to select which device you wish to work on. Simply make sure you have only one device connected to you computer.
TuneAid crashes as soon as I start it !
Make sure TuneAid is running off your main hard drive and not from an external hard drive or a disk image. Therefore make sure you copy TuneAid in you main applications folder before launching it.
