Common Connectivity Issues and Hints

  • The ‘Sharing function’ must be active during all file transfers: that means that FileApp must be running and displaying the ‘sharing’ screen
(Once you tap on “Done”, the sharing is turned off, so you can’t transfer files).
  • Always make sure that your device and your computer are connected on the same Wi-Fi network (WLAN).
  • Make sure FileApp connect to a private network, as opposed to cellphone or other networks (private network IP address are typically: 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 10.x.x.x)
  • If the Wi-Fi network is not a private network and you are connected to a public network (Public Wi-Fi, Hot Spots, Universities, Libraries or Enterprises) it is likely that the network will not let both devices connect together.

Connection Issues with Microsoft Windows XP

In case you are experiencing difficulties connecting your device using Windows XP, you should know that there is a bug creating a conflict between Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer with FTP management. Although you are supposed to use Windows Explorer for your FTP connections with FileApp, you will need to turn off and then on the folder view for FTP sites in Internet Explorer, here’s how:

  1. Start Internet Explorer
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options
  3. Click the Advanced tab, click to clear the Enable folder view for FTP sites check box, click Apply, and then click OK
  4. Click the Advanced tab again, click to check the Enable folder view for FTP sites check box, click Apply, and then click OK That should do the trick!
