DiskAid F.A.Q.

Can I copy Contacts, Notes or Text Messages (SMS) back to the iPhone?
  • Unfortunately not: DiskAid transfers Contacts, Notes or Text Messages (SMS) from the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to a computer and not the other way.
I don’t see all my iPhone apps in DiskAid – only some apps are showing up in DiskAid, what gives?
  • By default only apps that are compatible with File Sharing show up in DiskAid. In order to show all apps go to Diskaid’s Preferences, under the ‘Advanced’ tab tick the ‘Display all Apps even if they don’t have their File Sharing enabled’.
Where is the ‘Real’ Root folder, why isn’t it displayed?
  • The real root is only available to devices that have a ‘Jailbreak’ but it might not appear even if the device has been jailbroken. In this case it’s because afc service is missing on the device, and this can be fixed by simply downloading the afc2add package in Cydia on the device directly.
I have a jailbreak, and Diskaid is not letting me in Root folder, it is greyed out, why is that?
  • There is a missing config file within “Blackra1n” and in “Spirit” jailbreaks that prevents DiskAid to access Root folder. You can fix that by downloading the “afc2add” from Cydia!
Why is there a free disk space discrepancy between DiskAid and iTunes?
  • The Free space you see in iTunes is the total free memory available on the Device. DiskAid only displays the available space of the current partition you are browsing (DiskAid Folder, Media Folder and Root Folder). The total available free space of your device is not shown in DiskAid.
Why can’t I create a folder in the left ‘Navigation’ pane?
  • Because this is not part of the file system really, the navigation pane lists all available locations for data exchange and file sharing by default plus shortcuts. Folders are to be created in the ‘Browser’ pane on the right, then dragged to the shortcut icon on the “Navigation” pane, or added manually with a right-click.
I get an error mentioning that QTCF.dll is missing, what should I do?
  • it’s an issue with the iTunes Mobile Device driver, apparently a component of QuickTime is missing. Please download and install the latest iTunes – even if you have it installed already.
Then lauch it, launch QuickTime also, close them both connect your iPhone and start DiskAid, it should be fine.
  • I’m a developer and I want to render my application compatible with DiskAid, how do I do that?
    • You need to enable ‘File Sharing’ in your application. For details and instructions on how to do that, please refer to the section ‘File and Document Support’ in iPhone OS reference library.
